That is, until I worked with fifth-graders for five or six years. Getting cards that read, "Your the best teacher" begins to look normal after a couple of years. I'd drill your/you're and there/their/they're in their heads, but it seemed to make little difference.

I have a few words that I always have a hard time spelling. Guard and village, for example. I want it to be gaurd and villiage.

Do you read the blog "Missed Periods"? That's why I said typo rather than spelling mistake.

Sometimes I type a word phonetically and it completely "baffuls" me. I know how to spell it, so why did I spell it phonetically? Short circuit of the mind. Or at work, I forget which language I'm translating to and realize that I've translated a paragraph from English to English! I read the original english, hash it through in my mind a rewrite the sentences so that they work better... Then pause and think "Hey what language is this supposed to be in? Ooops"
-
Nodnod, about uniforms, that's exactly what I think.Avohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15808959359850145003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3801207462566510326.post-74957922975104231352010-08-10T06:49:59.894-07:002010-08-10T06:49:59.894-07:00Alesa, thanks for pointing out the error. Of course, that is a pragmatic and palliative solution to deeper rooted social issues...Avohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15808959359850145003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3801207462566510326.post-56972338256648429862010-08-10T06:19:11.051-07:002010-08-10T06:19:11.051-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Avohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15808959359850145003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3801207462566510326.post-31948702518043698102009-11-14T06:58:59.212-08:002009-11-14T06:58:59.212-08:00Thanks, Jan.
