Promotion and Pre-Orders

I finally held an advance copy of TIME & CIRCUMSTANCE.

It became real and surreal.

Suddenly, Vine Leaves Press is promoting my book.

With two months left,

I’m feeling the push

to promote my book.

Promote myself.

Yesterday, I visited a local poetry group.

In two weeks, I’ll do my first poetry reading.

I teach, I have read excerpts of my kid lit aloud.

I don’t know why this is SO HARD.

Maybe it’s because some parts are autobiographical.

My blog’s been up since 2009.

I’ve already shared a lot about my life.

I ask myself, Why is this different?

Finally, I’ve gotten to the bottom of things.

Even though I’ve critiqued poetry,

and even determined what poetry is fit for a journal,

Now a publisher is taking a chance on

JUST ME.

People I don’t know will review my book.

Now that the book is available for PRE-ORDER ,

I’d better get used to it.

Because I actually became a top seller for a time.

People are actually buying my book.

If you do too, I hope you enjoy it.

I wrote it from my heart.

xo,

Theresa

I'm in some good company.

  17. Congratulations, Teresa!!! It sounds like a nice book, I like the idea of a two-part theme. It seems by the Amazon review that there is a character who traverses through young ladyship to adult. I can't quite envision then, how the poetry and prose interact.
Amazon doesn't market it yet in Kindle?
My pictured fellow. He was a wooden figure, carved and fastened together by the piece. I found him at the entrance of a store in Gadans, Poland while traveling. I call him "Flirty Guy" because I first used him in a poem about flirting. Since I used him when I do not have, or do not wish, to use a real person. Like the elderly lady looking for a train seat, it just plain wasn't nice to take her picture. Then to post it!!! I do find though, that the Europeans are much more appreciative of the elderly and generally one will offer them (and me) their seat.

    1. Good question, Jim. The first part is prose, which spans from teen years to being a parent. The second part is poetry, which spans from childhood to being the parent.

According to the publisher, the ebook version will be available soon.

  24. This is wonderful, Theresa! You certainly deserve it, my dear. You are an excellent writer. Memoir or poetry based on life is extremely difficult to share because you make yourself vulnerable on the page. All the best to you with your new release.

  25. YAY!!! That's awesome. Knowing our words are out in the world is always a difficult thing. Readings are actually easier for me than doing presentations--that's SO scary! But maybe it's because I'm reading for children. I think reading for adults would be much scarier.

  27. Congrats on already being a bestseller! That's fantastic news. Yep, reading aloud is a different kettle of fish from blogging, but I'm sure you'll rock. It'll be in front of poetry lovers who are interested in what you have to say.
