Connections II

I've been invited to write another post at Write Olive. Please check out her blog and either link:

  1. Click, click, click. The sound of me visiting new sites.

Nice to see you getting your name out there.
In addition to everything else, it's definitely a good strategy.
    Cheers.

  2. Alesa, thanks for visiting new sites!

Calling it a "strategy" makes me sound way smarter than I am. Chuck and Olive invited me, which was flattering to say the least!

  3. I stumbled across your post yesterday...I'm woefully behind in my blog tours, so I missed your heads up. Glad I caught it, though!

  4. I read your interview on Olive's blog. My friend was a sub for a year and decided to transition to Para Pro (or Para-Pro?? Don't know how it's spelled :P) She couldn't take the mornings waiting to see if a call would come in or not. That has got to be one of the hardest aspects of the job. Incidentally, my husband has always wanted to be a history teacher, too. :)

I left you an award on my blog today!

  5. Lol, such modesty becomes you. : j
    But ill suits me!
What are you trying to do? You're ruining my image of teachers as braniac overlords armed with red pens that they use to draw the lines with which they control the world like puppeteers!

Just kidding of course, please pardon my burst of fantasy. It would make a good premise for a cartoon though.

Their inviting you just proves they have impeccable taste. ; j

  6. Thanks for the links. I will check them out. A lot clicking going on.

  7. I'll drop by your guest posts sometime today.
    Have a good day...:)

  8. Sounds like a pretty productive week! I've swung by Olive's (can I just say- I've always loved that name?)

  9. Okay, I visited and left a comment! And the other link worked as well. It was so cool to see you up there on that very famous blog! Wow!

  10. Great post over on Olive's. I love the parallels between writing and subbing.

  11. Theresa, you are getting too famous, lovely guest post on Olives.

  12. Oooh just been and read your lovely guest blog piece!! Well done you!

    Take care

  13. Nice guest blogs.

Love the quote on Joseph Campbell. One of my favorites.

It was great learning more about you (and from your answers to my blog questions today).

    Have a great day!

  14. Miss V, I'm glad you caught it too!

Nicole, I saw the award. Thank you!

I used to be a part-time para/assistant, but when I had an interview for a high school job, the principal expressed concern that I'd taught younger kids for so long. Thus the switch. So far, it hasn't helped.

Alesa, thank you. I appreciated the invites!

As for grading and editing students' work, I use a purple pen.

  15. Christine, I hope you're not getting clicking fatigue. I have no more guest blogs to promote, so back to business tomorrow.

Mr. Stupid, I hope you enjoy the links. I'll have to see what you're up to on your blog too.

Creepy Query Girl, I love the name Olive too.

Aubrie, it was surreal to be on Writer's Digest since I've been following Chuck and Jane's blogs on there for quite a while.

  16. Joanne, I'm glad you liked the parallels. When Olive suggested I write about one or the other, I found a way to talk about both.

Brigid, ha! Famous! I'll tell you how famous I am. While my first post comes up on Chuck's blog and I'm sending today's post to Olive, I stop in the teacher's room to microwave my lunch. They're having a teacher party and nobody even looks at me, let alone offers me food. I was invisible.

Old Kitty, thank you. Who knew I could write a post in under 400 words?

  17. Rebecca, unfortunately I think my reign of being everywhere is ending. I had a good run!

Shannon, thank you. I'm glad you liked the post. The quote worked well for the piece.

Answering the questions on your blog was fun.

  18. Wow! Bump the article you guest featured on Chuck S. That's some great advice.

What they mentioned on the blogging is HUGE. You don't want to kill your name before it's born.

  19. Eric, I hope my blog helps me rather than hinders me.

When there's an agent panel, I always try to get in because the advice is often invaluable, and it's a way to see if I like the agents.

  21. Tahereh, if I'm famous, I should've gotten professional head shots like Jane Friedman suggested on her blog instead of propping my camera on a box and taking a picture of myself. That picture is getting plastered everywhere!

  22. I'm so happy for you to have gotten so many great interviews!!! You are famous! I think we should be asking for autographs now!

  23. I just read your post at Writer's Digest! That's so cool. Plus Anita Nolan blogged about it too! Great job.

  24. Wow, girl, you really get around. :) Off I go to check out the new links. Thanks.

  25. Jen, want to know one of my fears? I become an author, people actually want me to sign their books, and I keep making mistakes and ruin the books. So then I have to buy new books, which boosts my sales, but eats into my advance.

Julie, thanks for letting me know. I just wrote a comment on Anita Nolan's blog.

Sarahjayne, I have been getting around. No more invites, so I guess I'll be sticking with my blog tomorrow.

Also, I saw your bestie story on Tahereh's blog.
