Legs
The bullied girl with the glasses gets a makeover in
“Legs”. She’s the Cinderella
of the shoe store. Why are all the
people so mean? Why is the band
playing in the street? Why are
their beards so long? How are they
able to appear out of thin air? Luckily, these “sexy” 80s women come to make
her over. It’s a real
Sandy-in-Grease moment.
"
Aww, she winds up with the cute guy. THE END.
Sharp Dressed Man
And not that this band would know anything about it, but
their other hit was “Sharp Dressed Man”. Boy, this ZZ Topp car gets a lot of
airtime. And look at all that 80s
fashion. Oh no, the ZZ Topp guys
are appearing out thin air again.
Why do three women always have to come and save the day? And why did we all think that hair
looked good?
This is a makeover video too. Why do they think the white tux looks better than the
black? I think he was more sharply
dressed before.
"
Well, what a note to end on.
If only we could have stopped at U.
Thanks for reading, listening, and watching!
My A to Z Challenge reflection post will be up on
05/07.
Love, Theresa xo
Gorgeous Theresa! The clips won't load but that's ok - I'll just go to youtube! Yay!!!
ReplyDeleteI love ZZTop!! I thought - weirdy beardy men rocking to great tunes I can sing along to!! Fab!
Well done for reaching Z and finishing the challenge!!! Take care
x
Old Kitty, You Tube doesn't have the original MTV videos. But MTV.com does. I hope you can them to download there. Happy week!
Deleteyep, slim pickings for 'z' but hey, it made us use our creativity!
ReplyDeleteI can't hear the name ZZ Top without thinking of this guy at the Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk. He got up on stage and did this amazing ZZ performance. He was a breast cancer survivor and it was hysterical.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making it all the way through! I never liked the "look", either of ZZ Top, but they've made it work for them~
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing. That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteI liked ZZ for about ten seconds before I realized they were all about making women, as well as men, objects of a society promoting sex appeal and shallow relationships. In addition to your selections, what about their song bragging they are "going downtown to get some"? The guitar rifts and beards were interesting, but that's about it (no offense to fans).
ReplyDeleteOn another note (heh heh), have you ever watched the series Bones? Angela's father looks like a ZZ guy and scares the crap out of her boyfriend/husband. It's a riot, and I'm not really into television.
Woot! You finished!
ReplyDeleteInteresting Z words. I haven't heard of either of those people. Thanks for sharing and congrats on finishing the A-Z challenge.
ReplyDeleteHa, I knew you would take ZZ Top at the end! :)
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed this A-Z 80s music. You did a great job.
What an appropriate ending for A to Z! Talk about a blast from the past, and those clothes! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great Monday!
They weren't hot, but oh man! They are super musicians. For sure. I figured it would be ZZ Top. Great note to end on, my friend. GREAT JOB! I heart you. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteI think I would have run out of steam with G. I agree, they weren't hot but they could play. Congrats on finishing this monster challenge!
ReplyDeleteAw, I love that first video! So sweet and it's totally a Sandra-Dee-turned-Cinderella moment!
ReplyDeleteI actually got to see them in a stadium show my senior year in high school. I remember Candie's shoes were made so popular by their song! They were cool. No doubt. I've enjoyed your blog posts this month, it's been a plast back to the past!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get the videos to play. I don't think ZZ Top ever entered my consciousness.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing the challenge. Hasn't it been great?
Annalisa, sorry they wouldn't play. The videos are also on mtv.com. I didn't use those links because they didn't have an embed option.
DeleteI remember ZZTop thanks for the nostaligia trip. :O)
ReplyDeleteOnly came across this band today. I've had an education from the people in the Challenge who focused on music and musicians. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTheresa - It took me to the last day of the A-Z challenge before I guessed correctly who you might feature before checking your post. Who else, but ZZ Topp?!
ReplyDeleteI loved the 80's take on Cinderella. That is still one of my favorite videos. Those beards always scared me a little, though!
ReplyDeleteOne of the ZZ Top guys plays Angela's father on Bones.
ReplyDeleteI think they should have gone with a really classy color for the tux. Like purple.
ReplyDeleteYour posts were great fun, Theresa. Super theme for the Challenge -- well done.
Oh gosh, it's funny that I remember every second of these videos as soon as the clips start to play. You have a good point about space in the brain LOL.
ReplyDeleteI loved your A-Z through the 80s, great theme and I had fun going down memory lane.
I just knew they'd be your Z! I loved your choice for W, btw. :-)
ReplyDeleteI totally remember the Legs video as well!!! Sweet, happy ending there. And the challenge is over! It was a good one!
ReplyDeleteAna
Remember when people actually dressed like that? Hope those styles don't come back.
ReplyDeleteLoved those songs at the time.
ReplyDeleteTwice, others have mentioned the ZZ Topp/Bones connection. I heard that he is actually the father of the actress who plays Angela. I think. I'd have to look it up, but my prep period is almost over.
You're done. Did you have fun?
Great choice for Z. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHuh. I don't think I've watched that Legs video before. She really did have nice legs. And what's up with those fuzzy guitars?
ReplyDeleteTime to come clean. I've never enjoyed their music, but I love their beards!
ReplyDeleteCan't say I ever got into ZZ Topp.
ReplyDeleteYay the challenge is OVER!!!!!! Let's celebrate by falling down ;)
And Legs was originally written about one of the guy's daughters learning how to walk (I think I heard it on a behind the music). Congrats finishing the challenege!
ReplyDeleteWhat? You don't' think they're hahahahahot? (Sorry, I couldn't even say that without laughing :)) Yay! You made it! Congrats on finishing A to Z, and even if they're not hot, I do like those songs :)
ReplyDeleteI love both songs, but Legs is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteWell done on completing the A to Z Challenge! I learned about so many new bands/songs from your posts!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, ZZ Top... the memories!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the challenge!
Indeed a nice note to end on :) Congrats on finishing the challenge!

Glad you had a great time on the challenge!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you had such a great time with the challenge. You have a great blog.

Loved ZZ Top! Sharp Dressed Man was one of my faves. :D
ReplyDeleteGreat way to wrap up the A to Z challenge! I like Sharp Dressed Man.

PUTTING WORDS DOWN ON PAPER
Great choice and songs as wrap up!
