Crusader Quiz

This is not the kind that forces conversions, I swear.

You may have noticed the “I’m a Crusader” badge my sidebar. Rachael Harrie Rachael Harrie created a “Writer’s Platform-Building Crusade” as a way for writers to connect. Last year, her first one had 60+ members. This year, it became so popular that she closed it after 200+ members. We’ve been subdivided into category/genre groups. I’m in YA Fantasy 7B.

With so many members, it’s hard to get to know everyone. Bloggers have been coming up with various ways: challenges, a Yahoo group, and so on.

I already knew J.C. Martin, Fighter Writer before the crusade. Here’s her profile description:

Rabid writer, aspiring author. Also bookworm, kung fu fighter, teacher, gourmand, slave to three dogs, child at heart, dreamer.

She has started a feature on her blog to help us get to know one another called the Crusader Quiz .

Please visit her BLOG so she’s not sorry she chose me as her first interviewee. And please follow J.C. too!

Fellow crusaders,

how are you connecting

with other crusaders?

  3. I read your interview. Congrats on your accomplishments. I did submit a children's story to a subsidy publisher and it was accepted. Only to find out that it was very $$$$$ upfront. Now, I am on a mission to look for an agent.
    Any suggestions?

  5. Interesting! It is hard sometimes to connect with other bloggers just because we all live in different parts of the world; it's too bad there aren't more blogger conventions or something that we could all meet in person. But at least there is stuff like the Crusaders and the Crusader quiz to keep us connected. :)

  7. Er... being a non-crusader type wombat, may I still wave a big hello and howdy?

    Take care

  8. @ Susan, thanks. I'll look for your April quiz.

    @ Joanne, thank you!

@ Carol, you don't have to be a crusader. Thanks for checking it out.

@ Choices, if you have an offer, I'd contact agents who seem like they're a good fit for what you do. Check Query Tracker online or Writer's Digest Guide for Writers and Illustrators for a list of agents.

But remember, the less you get up front, the less pressure for your book to make back your advance. It will be easier for the pub co to make a profit. And if you make back your advance, they'll be more willing to take another book, probably for more $.

    @ Ann, that's great. Thanks!

@ Bossy Betty, thank you for visiting.

@ Neurotic Workaholic, that would be great. There's BlogHer, but I don't know if they have a writers' one.

@ Tara, it got so big it was closed. I should've mentioned that. Hope you get join next year.

@ Old Kitty, just because you're not a crusader, I'm not putting you in the wombat category!

    @ J.L., thanks!

    @ Talli, thank you!
