  1. Hi Theresa - that's the sad thing isn't it ... for the body in the road ... great description of some desperate incidents - we had 5 kids killed on a road not motorway this weekend - desperate times for the school ... Hilary

    1. Oh, Hilary, how horrid. I feel for the families and the other teens who have to endure the grief.

    1. Alex, I agree. I was surprised when I found that out. I think I read it in a Malcolm Gladwell book.

    1. Michael, it is disturbing. I guess it was enough on my brain that I wrote about it.

  6. Oh, man, your poem made me shiver. I like the way you formatted it, emphasizing the word "Spikes" and that last shocking line.

  7. That's a good poem, and it raises some serious issues too. It made me think of articles I've read about road rage and how out of control some drivers get. It's scary and is just one of the reasons why I'm glad that there's public transportation in Chicago.

  9. Really packs a punch!
Last week, five youngsters between the ages of 16 and 20 years old, were killed instantly when the vehicle they were travelling in (at high speed, mind you, and contra-flow), collided with another vehicle. Both cars burst into flames. It was really sad.

  11. The madness of highway users. Very true in most instances where accidents seem to be the norm. Nicely Theresa!

  14. It's disturbing how accidents and the people who cause them follow each other. That ending made me shiver.
